Wayne Mobile Health Collaboration
Medical Students volunteer with Wayne Mobile Health for residents of Detroit providing screenings for cholesterol, blood pressure, & blood glucose.
Rock the Boat
BMAs annual Detroit River Boat Cruise during the first week of the academic year. Icebreaker for M1s and reconnecting social for M2-M4s.
Anatomy Sale
A BMA fundraiser held during Year 1 Orientation Week. BMA collects donated resources and equipment for the Anatomy class and sells it at affordable prices to incoming first year medical students.
Sister 2 Sister/ Brother 2 Brother
Twice a year, BMA hosts a dinner for students to connect with Black Physicians in the Detroit Area.
Reach Out to Youth (ROTY)
The Reach Out to Youth program targets students ages 7-11 who aspire towards careers in medicine and parents interested in maximizing their child's educational potential. Students will participate in interactive workshops designed to motivate students and lead them to careers in the medical profession, as well as educate them on the science behind healthy living and eating. Parents and children will each participate in a day of separate workshops.
Black History Month
Held throughout February at the Wayne State University School of Medicine in the Shiffman Library. Exhibits feature African Americans who completed an MD degree from Wayne State University.
AMEC & RMEC
